作品鉴赏

The composition is worked with brocade， satin， and embroidered silk appliques， some detailed with satin stitches and outlined with couched cords to accentuate outlines. Further embellished with stone and pearl beads. The central image is depicting the figure of Avalokitesvara with hands in varada and vitarka mudras， gesture of the teaching of the Doctrine， holding in one hand a lotus spray. The deity is emanating an aureole， seated with legs crossed in vajrasana on a lotus flower platform， growing from water below. Below the aureole sits an image of Buddha with hands in dhyanasana mudra holding an alms bowl and is seated between the Sun and Moon symbols， set against wispy clouds against a blue ground.
